The following assignments are due on Friday Nov. 8. All work should be organized on Flickr in albums. You should make sure all of your photos are public, and you are following me so I can go to your Flickr and mark your work.
1. Flickr organization: profile photo, background photo changes, photos organized in albums, followers ( 10 marks)
2. 2 Head shots and a Selfie portrait which has been edited ( 20 marks)
3. Eyes: 5 shots, of which 2 should be edited. ( 15 marks)
4. Fall shots: 5 shots which should all look very different and be taken from different angles.
5. Portraits: 10 shots all of the same person taken from different perspectives on different days. These shots should be well composed, in focus, have clean backgrounds (20 marks)
6. Portrait Slideshow: These 10 Portraits are put into a slideshow set to music. Make sure your title page is a separate photo with your name on it (DUE WED OCT 30 in class 10 marks)
7. Self Evaluation: Choose your best photo this term, copy and paste into word then using the elements of composition, tell me why this is your best photo. In addition to this, write down 3 things you learned this term in Photo class. ( 5 marks)

Conceptual Photography NEW Assignment
You will be shooting a photo on the theme: It is a Plastic World. First we will brainstorm ideas around this concept, discuss what conceptual photography is and then come up with an idea to photograph connecting to this theme. Final shot not due this term.

Duplicity: Four shots are taken in the same environment using a tripod. You are then to edit all four shots into one photo using Photoshop. Post to Flickr ( 1 shot = 20 marks)

Portraits
Portraits: Wed Oct. 30 in class slideshow. Reminder slideshow is worth 10 marks.
Working with a model of your choice, you should plan to set up a portrait shoot. You will need 10 different shots of one model. Plan to shoot a variety of different shots including but not limited to: a couple of head shots, several full body shots, creative shots using the lcd projector/costumes/props etc. Study other portrait photographer's work and learn how to effectively pose your model.
This assignment is worth 20 marks.
Tips:
So maybe you can research posing and plan your model and location. If you have done your shoot, you should spend some good quality time editing. If you are doing your portraits at school, find someone to photograph and get busy. There are lots of places to shoot around the school. ( skate park, woods, garage door near the soccer clubhouse, metal storage containers on the soccer fields. )

- be aware of where the light is ( best times to shoot dawn and dusk)
- choose a good background
- use a prop ( umbrella, hat, scarf, pumpkin etc)
- shoot people in their element ( skateboarder with a skateboard at the skatepark)
- create a rapport with your model and direct the shoot, which means tell the model what you want them to do.

New Assignments
Good morning first I would like you to read
through the article in this link and really think about the elements of
composition.
The following is a list of assignments so far.
Assignment #1: Flickr organization: Create a Flickr account, make Ms Chase a contact, create a buddy icon, change your background photo on Flickr, grade 9 photo students from last year put old photos into a separate folder, join the Mark Isfeld Photo group, find two followers other than Ms Chase. Make sure when you upload photos all your photos are public and your display name is your real name.

Assignment #2: Head shots/Selfie Portrait : You are to take 2 head shots of 2 different people and also put one up of yourself. These should be head and shoulders shots, edited, cropped tight. In the same album, you are going to create a selfie portrait, in this image it should say something about your personality. I would like you to attempt 2 layers in Photoshop even if one layer is very simple. POST TO FLICKR in an album
NEW Assignment #3 Eyes: You are to take 5 photos of eyes and make sure that the shots are clear, in focus and i
interesting. You might think about how you are shooting the eyes, how you might edit them in Photoshop, if you might add make-up to the eyes to enhance the look etc. You should make sure that you have 2 photos that you do some interesting Photoshop edits on. POST TO FLICKR in an album. Marks: 15
NEW Assignment #4 Fall Shots: As summer draws to an end, the leaves begin to change and the weather gets wetter, fall harvest of vegetables is close at hand and orange pumpkins grace the fields. Welcome Back
Introduction: In this class you will learn much about how to see from a different perspective, how to improve your ability to take photos and how to edit photos in Photoshop. There is much to know in the field of Photography and I am a learner as much as a teacher. In fact, we can learn much from each other. This class will allow a fair bit of freedom, but with this freedom comes responsibility. If it becomes evident to me that you are not using your time wisely taking photos, privileges will be restricted to taking photos in the classroom only.

- a positive attitude and a willingness to learn and push beyond the level you are at
- your own SD card /card reader,charger cables if you are using your phone to upload photos and you should bring to class on a regular basis
- a willingness to take a school camera home occasionally or use your family's camera on the weekend
- to use your class time effectively and respect the freedom you have in this class
- be a good model for your peers
STUDENTS MUST HAVE THEIR OWN SD CARD AND HAVING ACCESS TO A CAMERA AT HOME WILL HELP WITH SUCCESS IN THIS CLASS

TERM 4 ASSIGNMENTS
Here is most of your work for term 4 with the criteria and dates due.
SLIDESHOWS DUE THUR JUNE 14 in class for presentation. All other assignments due on Flickr in albums by the end of the day FRI JUNE 22. No exceptions.
Overlay: Marks 10 Create an OVERLAY ( 1 photo) where you take 2 or more different photos and put them together in Photoshop to create a new piece. At least one photo must be your own. Place on On Flickr in its own album. Criteria: Make sure the overlay is not muddled and you are trying to communicate something. Your overlay should look artistic.You may choose and or adapt a background from the internet, but the main photo must be your own.
Spring shots : Marks 10 You are to take 5 shots that in your mind depict spring. These can be of nature but they could also include people. Edit for cropping and lighting and put into an album on Flickr. Criteria: Make sure the shots are well composed and have clean backgrounds.
Macros: Marks 20 You are to take 10 shots of close up objects. The main part of the object should be in focus, with the backgrounds having a blur to them. These shots should not just be of anything, but rather they should look like photographic art. Think about your subject matter.
Portraits: Marks 20 You are to choose one model who you will work with to create a spectacular collection of shots. You can choose your location,special clothing or costumes or even try to theme your shoot. A combination of close up, and full body shots is expected. The photos should be flattering and professional looking. All photos should include basic editing ( cropping and lighting). 10 shots total two models max, preferably 10 shots of one model.
Slideshow set to music: Marks 50 (40 shots, 10 of which can be from ASSIGNMENT PHOTOS or taken previously to this class). All photos should be edited and be the best photos you have taken. They should be organized with thought and set to music. You should have your first and last name on your first slide. Student who took grade 9 photo can choose to shot moving video, but should speak to Ms Chase first. Presentation dates:Tues June 12 and Wed. June 14 in class. Please put video m drive under chase 2018 photo10.
