New Assignments

Assignment #4 : Macros/Close-ups : The focus of this assignment is to see things from a different perspective...to look at things close up and see them  in a unique way. The following is criteria for this assignment: 10 SHOTS (20 marks) Check out the following links for more information on how to shoot great macros/close-ups.

• make sure your object is the focal point and in focus

• keep your backgrounds clean or blurred

• shoot a variety of shots and use a variety of different objects

• use your light effectively

• make your shots interesting ( frame them differently, have them tell a story)

• draw me into your photo

• make the ordinary look extraordinary

Assignmnet #5 Spot colour, 5 SHOTS (10 marks) Take any of the photos you currently have, or shoot a new set of 5 phots. Bring them into Pixlar and use the spot colour feature to highlight a particular colour in the photo.

Your first few assignments

Assignment #1: You need to sign up onto Flickr and make me a contact. You can do this by searching under contacts by my name lisa chase. My icon is the sunflower. Make sure you put a photo as your buddy icon. Once you have done this, you can upload your first photos.

Assignment #2: 6 photos. This assignment should include 3 self portraits. These are not pics someone has taken of you, but rather pics you have taken of yourself. Under this set you should also include 3 photos of another individual. These photos should be posted on to Flickr under the set name Self Portrait or Pics of Self.

Assignment #3: 10 skatepark shots. Using the backdrop of the skatepark, you should take 5 people shots, (the closer up, the better) and 5 object shots. for the object shots, you want to juxtapose an object against the backdrop of the skatepark. Try to be creative with your angles and the type of shot you take. Remember, I have seen a lot of skatepark shots, try to focus on being original.

Welcome to Intro to Photo

Welcome back to a fun filled year of photography. For some of you, this will be your second time through, and for others this is your first experience working with me. This will be a great year...in fact I am dubbing it "the year of photography." This site is the place for you to keep track of all of the assignments. Many sample assignments will be posted as well as links to other sites. In the next post, I will outline your first assignments with criteria. Please ask for help if you need it and have me look at your photos regularly to offer feedback. And lastly, get out there and start shooting while the weather is good.
